‘Everything has gone as I had hoped’ – Emanuel Emegha on his journey to Chelsea

It has been quite the rise for Emanuel Emegha (22), who has become something of a symbol of the BlueCo project at RC Strasbourg Alsace. The Dutchman, when he joined Le Racing from Sturm Graz back in the summer of 2022, became one of the first signings of the BlueCo era. He is now preparing to join their sister club, Chelsea.

Since joining Strasbourg back in 2022, he has made 68 appearances, scoring 29 goals in that time. However, in an interview with Dutch media AD, he has shockingly revealed that he didn’t even know where Strasbourg was at the time of joining.

Emegha didn’t know that Strasbourg was in France

“To be honest, I didn’t even know where that (Strasbourg) was. I thought it was in Germany, but it turned out to be in France. Well, I think everyone knows Strasbourg now,” said Emegha, who believes that he has played a big part in putting the Alsace city on the footballing map.

This season, Emegha wears the captain’s armband, whilst he also made his debut for the Netherlands earlier this month.

Emegha reflected on his journey. “Strasbourg really had a plan for young players like me. That’s worked out. I was the first player in the project, and next season, I will join Chelsea. Everything has gone as I had hoped,” said the Dutchman. He will join Chelsea in the summer, as was confirmed back in September.
