Qatar Airways is bringing a touch of Los Angeles fine dining to the skies. The airline has partnered with chef Curtis Stone to create a new three-course Business Class menu, which launched November 15 on routes between Los Angeles and Doha.
Stone, the Australian-born, Los Angeles-based chef behind Michelin-starred restaurant and butcher shop Gwen and The Pie Room by Curtis Stone, has designed a menu that reflects his signature style. Gwen is known for its live-fire cooking and butchery program, and while there’ll be no open flames at 30,000 feet, the in-flight menu features several dishes inspired by the restaurant’s focus on elegant preparations and seasonal West Coast ingredients.
“We are continually looking for ways to elevate our onboard experience and deliver the highest level of quality to our passengers,” Xia Cai, Qatar Airways’ senior vice president for product development and design, told Food & Wine. “Last year, we introduced caviar service in Business Class, and this new partnership takes our in-flight dining even further by bringing Gwen’s Michelin-star excellence to the skies.”
Passengers can order from a menu that includes lobster salad with kimchi cocktail sauce and pickled cucumber; slow-braised beef short ribs with potato fondant, carrot purée, and gremolata; and for dessert, Dulcey chocolate mousse with passion fruit, chocolate biscuit, crème fraîche, and vanilla sablé crumble.
“Combining my two loves of food and travel, my vision for this menu is to create the perfect mix of luxury and comfort,” Stone said in a press release shared with Food & Wine. “I want Qatar Airways Business Class travelers to feel both spoiled and comforted, enjoying food that is elevated yet still rooted in flavors they know and love.”
The collaboration marks the latest addition to the Qatar Airways Signature Guest Chef Series, which features culinary talent from around the world. Its top-tier dining program is one reason Qatar Airways was recently named the World’s Best Airline for the ninth time and World’s Best Business Class for the 12th time by Skytrax. The airline has been named among the top 10 international airlines for food and drink in Food & Wine’s 2023, 2024, and 2025 Global Tastemakers awards.
Business Class passengers on Qatar Airways’ West Coast routes were the first to experience Stone’s menu, which will rotate seasonally with new dishes introduced every three months. Beyond the core offerings, travelers can choose from lighter fare like burrata Caprese sandwiches and kale and cherry tomato frittatas, plus all day dining main courses like paneer and fig kofta, and grilled lobster with bisque sauce.
With this partnership, Qatar Airways joins a growing list of airlines investing in high-profile chef collaborations to upgrade in-flight dining. For Stone, it’s a decidedly elevated way to connect his love of travel and food.
