Co-op to roll out major change to help shoppers save up to £94

Co-op is introducing major changes that could help shoppers save £90 ahead of Christmas. The retailer is revamping its rewards scheme and personalised discounts to help customers make bigger savings. The changes could help some customers save up to £94.95 before the year is out.

The retailer has also announced that 200 additional products will be added to the list of items eligible for personalised discounts. These include products from brands such as Huel, Actimel, Pop Chips, and Vimto, with savings of up to 70p per item. The retailer is also boosting the discounts on one-fifth of these products. For instance, it is offering 60p off its own-brand British meat and poultry, up from the previous 40p discount.

At the moment, Co-op shoppers receive eight personalised offers each week and can redeem two per week. To access the offers, you must be a Co-op member and select them via the Co-op app or your online account. Fresh offers will be added to your account each Monday and must be used by Sunday before they expire. The discounts are tailored to your shopping patterns, which are monitored whenever you scan your membership card in-store.

Co-op members can also take advantage of exclusive offers, such as the Freezer Favourites deal or the recently introduced Served Meal deal, helping them save several pounds on each shop. For instance, members could pick up two pizzas, a side, and a drink for £10, saving up to £7.50.

Rachel Halter, director of membership at Co-op, said: “By increasing the number, quality and discount value of our personalised offers, while expanding access to popular features like booster offers and in-app games, we’re ensuring members can enjoy meaningful savings across their favourite products and ranges.

“It’s all part of our promise to deliver outstanding value and to reward our members every time they choose Co-op.”

Co-op is also revamping its app with new games that could earn you up to £5 off your shop.

October’s Halloween-themed game goes live on Monday. It offers 3,000 top prizes of £5 off, along with vouchers worth £2, £1, 75p, 50p, and 25p.

In addition, the app will feature a monthly Member Prize Draw, giving members the chance to win one of six prizes. October’s prizes include:

  • £500 added to a member’s digital wallet and £5,000 for their chosen Local Community Fund cause

  • A once-in-a-lifetime experience at Co-op Live, the UK’s largest indoor arena

  • A ‘spooky’ holiday to Transylvania, Romania

  • £2,500 to spend on Deliveroo

  • A Ring doorbell

  • A private chocolate factory tour with PlayInCHOC

Prizes will rotate each month, and members receive one entry for every £5 spent in-store or online. New members joining this month will get double entries on all purchases of £5 or more.
