Today, the Office for National Statistics announced the UK economy has been hit by a 9.9 percent fall, in what is the largest annual drop in UK GDP on record. 

But in a glimmer of hope, it is thought the economy will avoid a double-dip recession, a prospect which was greatly feared. 

An announcement on pension tax relief could help to bolster the economy, undoubtedly an aim for the Chancellor.

However, as Mr Selby highlights, such a move could disproportionately impact public sector workers such as doctors and senior nurses.
