leksandr Usyk outclassed Britain’s Derek Chisora to win Saturday night’s heavyweight bout at Wembley Arena by unanimous points decision.

Judges scored the fight at 117-112, 115-113 and 115-113 in Usyk’s favour, with Chisora unable to take advantage of a significant weight advantage against the former undisputed cruiserweight world champion.

Usyk was given a stern test but the Ukrainian took a step towards a world heavyweight title shot in 2021 with victory over a brave Chisora, who weighed in at almost 40lbs heavier than his opponent.

The 36-year-old got off to a fast start but never looked likely to be able to maintain the early tempo and once Usyk had weathered the early storm his class told. Usyk used his superior speed and movement to assume control around the halfway stage, wobbling Chisora in the seventh round.

The win takes the Ukrainian’s unbeaten career record to 18-0 and is his second since stepping up to the heavyweight division after beating another Brit, Tony Bellew, in his final fight as a cruiserweight in 2018.
