Explaining the rules this year, Martin continued: “In the past, you would apply for it just the time you got, but this year only, the Revenue has set up on GOV.UK a new micro service for 2021 which automatically gives you tax relief for the whole of this tax year.”

Martin went on to explain it’s possible to apply for this tax relief back to the start of the first UK lockdown on March 23, 2020 – meaning people would get the relief for that extra two weeks from the previous tax year.

“So even if you’ve worked from home for one day since the 6th of April, one day your employer said you have to work from home, you get tax relief for the entire year.”

So, how much could this tax relief be worth?
