Manchester United are five games away from Europa League glory as they kick off their quarter-final quest with a trip to Granada.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Leicester, and with Man City on the brink of the Premier League title, the Europa League is United’s last chance of silverware this season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to claim his first trophy since taking charge.
United overcame AC Milan in the previous round while Granada, currently ninth in LaLiga, beat Solskjaer’s former club Molde 3-2 on aggregate despite losing the second leg of their last-16 tie.
With the Red Devils looking likely to finish in the top four, winning the Europa League becomes less a means to sealing Champions League qualification, and more a test of whether Solskjaer’s squad possess a trophy-winning mentality.
With kick-off at 8pm BST, follow all the action on our LIVE blog!
The goal looked a lot like Real’s goal from last night, with Kroos spotting Vinicius’ run from the left flank inside.
You can say what you want about tactics, but sometimes, a long ball and pace are all you need…
GOAL! Granada 0-1 Manchester United | Marcus Rashford, 30 mins
Out of nothing, United lead!
Granada had a half-chance down the other end which comes to nothing.
De Gea plays the goal kick out to Lindelof who carries the ball forward, spots the run of Rashford off the shoulder and plays a superb long ball over the top of the defence.
Rashford takes the ball down brilliantly and calmly slots home!
26 mins: United’s play has been a bit stodgy so far – much like their start against Brighton at the weekend.
Rashford aims for the opposite far corner from the left and bends it over the bar. Not too far away, but not too close either.
16 mins: No goals or real chances of note yet, but Granada are playing with good intensity.
Bruno Fernandes is dropping deep given he hasn’t had much of the ball, but that’s surely what McTominay and Pogba are there for…
9 mins: Granada have a free-kick – it’s flighted in towards Soldado who’s clearly offside, and Fernandes away from him clears for a corner – but for some reason, the offside flag doesn’t go up. Very strange. Luckily for United, De Gea claims the set piece.
7 mins: Pogba takes a heavy touch with his back to his own goal and lunges in with a nasty tackle here, picking up a deserved yellow card – that was reckless.
Well now… there aren’t any fans allowed in the stadium – and even if they were, they’d certainly have to be dressed, unlike the streaker who has just bounded across the pitch.
A brief break in play, and we’re ready to continue.
4 mins: Pogba gets free of his marker deep in his own half and bounds forward before splitting the pitch with a great long ball to Rashford. He gets in from the left but dallies until there’s no space, and fires at a defender.
Rashford looks to be in a bit of pain here – he was a slight doubt before the game, but Solskjaer said the forward was ready to play. We’ll follow that one closely…
Anthony Martial may be out injured, but United have another Anthony – Elanga – on the bench today. He’s 18 and has been scoring for the U23s, nabbing eight. This will be a great experience for him, and he may even get a debut if things go well for United.
1 mins: A great start from Granada down the left – Maguire clears the first cross and then Wan-Bissaka gets his head to the next one. The hosts have come flying out of the traps.
