Attention mac n’ cheese hackers: You no longer need to buy a bunch of seasoning to add to your cheesy meal. On Wednesday, Kraft shared that it’s going to go ahead and do all that work for you.
The mac n’ cheese giant has announced its plans to drop a brand-new Everything Bagel Mac & Cheese flavor in direct response to “Zillennials,” aka a mix of Gen Z and Millennials, consumer behavior.
“The release of Everything Bagel underscores a new flavor-focused expansion strategy Kraft is piloting to deliver on Zillennials’ desire for bolder flavor offerings from their favorite brands,” the brand shared in a press announcement. “Guided by real fan submissions from last year’s ‘Fan Flavorites’ program and evolving market trends, Kraft is bringing unexpected new flavors to market in record time.”
As Kraft noted, the Everything Bagel flavor brings together the cult-favorite spice with its signature cheese sauce in an “irresistible, crave-worthy fusion of oniony, garlicky flavor.”
The new flavor will be available exclusively on Walmart.com for a suggested retail price of $1.58. Pre-sales will open on Monday, November 25, with official sales starting on Friday, November 29. However, it’s critical to note that this will be a limited-time offering and will only be available while supplies last, so if you get your hands on it, make sure to cherish every bite. For real, we’re talking seriously limited, as the brand announced it’s only releasing 14,000 boxes total, which it added is “less than 2% of the number of boxes of Original Kraft Mac & Cheese the brand sells each day.”
The company noted that its timing is rather intentional. It wanted to launch the box just after the Thanksgiving holiday to give “exhausted cooks seeking an easy yet crowd-pleasing meal” that can be whipped up in minutes without additional ingredients.
Kraft also gave us one more piece of good news: The Everything Bagel flavor was the winning selection from its Fan Flavorites submissions. But, it’s currently testing more than 60 additional, new potential flavors. So, we can only dream about what other limited-time offerings are coming down the pipe.
