Pep Guardiola’s side continue their tilt at an unprecedented quadruple as they take on an injury-hit Toffees in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Carlo Ancelotti has a job on his hands, especially having lost both first- and second-choice goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen to injury, to end his team’s six-game losing streak against City.

Everton have won just four of their last 11 home matches in all competitions, with three of those victories coming in the FA Cup, and two of those against lower-league opposition though did beat Tottenham in a 5-4 thriller in the last round.

“I don’t think it’s an easy game for City,” Ancelotti said. “They have better quality than us, but I’m sure they will have a difficult game.

Guardiola added: “It is a final. The quality of their players is there, no doubt about it.”

Team news

Carlo Ancelotti will have to field third-choice goalkeeper Joao Virginia against City with normal no1 Jordan Pickford sidelined with an abdominal injury and deputy Robin Olsen also out.

Everton are also missing Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez, as well as fellow midfielders Fabian Delph – formerly of City – and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, has no new injury concerns and the luxury of a fully-fit Manchester City squad to choose from tonight.
