Complaints guru Alex Neill of Resolver.co.uk said Britons could be eligible for compensation and can be let out of contracts early if your broadband speed is continuously slow.

Speaking on The One Show, she said: “If you’ve got a problem with your broadband speed and if it keeps happening then you have the right to ask your provider to be let out of your contract at any stage penalty-free.

“If you’ve lost service and that happens for more than two working days, you are entitled to compensation.

“It’s £8 a day, everyday that you don’t have the service.
